Situated in a remodeled laundry facilities building, the Law Annex to the Seattle University School of Law houses the law clinic, additional offices and meeting rooms, classrooms, and a light-filled, quiet student lounge. The Law Annex is a great example of smart adaptive reuse: careful planning meant much of the old building was saved, including the original clerestory for more natural light and reusing as much as the existing wood as possible.
The building’s energy, HVAC, and seismic systems were completely updated in the remodel to either meet or exceed modern codes, ensuring a safe and more energy efficient facility. The design is visually pleasing, highly effective, flexible, and accommodating of future changes. This project received LEED Gold certification.
